Writing

Inkcat Media creates documents in a wide variety of genres, from business letters to websites to brochures. Inkcat will interview clients, take notes on project details or work from background information that a client provides.

Inkcat confers with clients during the writing process to ensure the work is being done to the client's specifications. Inkcat is committed to excellence in all written endeavors and guarantees clients clear, concise, thoughtfully-written copy delivered with professionalism and integrity.

Editing

Inkcat Media offers substantive editing, copy editing, and proofreading services. This process can be as interactive or independent as the client wishes it to be.

Light editing (proofreading/copyediting) can be useful if a client would like to ensure their document is polished and error-free before sending it on.

Substantive editing can be useful for clients who wish to have their document critically assessed and/or re-worked for purposes of clarification and style. When editing substantively, Inkcat takes great care to remain true to the intention of the writer and invites feedback whenever possible.

Writing Consultation

In a writing consultation session, Inkcat works with a client on a particular project to help them to clarify their intent and direction as well as to clear underlying blocks. Writing consulting can be useful if a client is:

      Blocked
      Searching for direction
      Seeking outside input on a project
      Looking for a way to begin
      Needing assistance in organizing ideas
      Wanting to take a writing project to the next level

Examples of projects which might benefit from a consulting session are:

      Promotional writing
      Web writing
      Cover letters
      Project outlines
      Project descriptions
      Creative writing
      Any project that involves writing for which the client might benefit
       from outside counsel

In her writing consulting, Marni fuses her journalistic experience with her training as a therapist to create sessions that broaden her clients' understanding of themselves while furthering their goals of clear communication (please see About).

Writing Workshops

Inkcat is available to facilitate a variety of writing workshops for your group.

Workshop arrangements are flexible, ranging from one-time-sessions to several-part-series. Marni is flexible about workshop components and open to discussion, with a mind to creating a concept tailored to the specific needs of a group.

Inkcat's writing workshops focus on firing participants' inspiration and encouraging them to write authentically and from the gut.

In her workshops, Marni strives to create a warm, inclusive atmosphere that respects participants' comfort zones while encouraging them to open up to the creative process.

Her facilitation style is client-centred in that while she will arrive with a plan for the workshop she does her best to respond to the specific needs of the group.

Tutoring

Inkcat offers one-on-one tutoring and small group sessions tailored to clients' needs. Examples of topics that can be approached in a tutoring session are:

      Improving written English
      Practicing English conversation
      Essay writing
      Presentation writing
      Cover letter writing
      Report writing

Inkcat invites clients to bring their essays, papers, reports, business letters and any other form of written English to a session. ESL can also be approached through conversational sessions and shared readings.
